After 27 years, Lark Corbeil turned Public News Service over to Managing Director Josh Wise. Lark herself grew up bridging economic and cultural divides, with one foot in a small town in Idaho and another in Topanga Canyon, California. Lark lived and worked in France, Israel, Taiwan and New York before starting PNS in Idaho, 1996, based on her experience with Reuters TV, now Thompson Reuters, and Channel One. Innovating a funding model based on memberships, grants and gifts, attaining B Corps certification and becoming the first news service to join the Trust Project along the way, she now manages a multi-format network of state-based news services that currently reach over 50 million people weekly through thousands of local news outlets. She launched the non-profit Media in the Public Interest, as well as SoundBite Services, and has served in leadership roles with The Media Consortium and other professional organizations. She currently splits time with her family in Colorado and Idaho.
